"i'll just read a few poems while i have this coffee," i thought, and then walked out three hours later having read the whole book. usually i can't read poetry collection right through like that, which i mention not because my sustained attention is praise chrystos might want or need but because i am grateful to be so compelled & taught. (i will still reread everything here a thousand times; once in starvation is not enough.) infinite love for this queer elder who has traced lineages between & among so many of us.
not for the faint hearted.
My only criticism of this book is that for poetry it is long and could easily have been two 5-star books. Like every one of Chrystos' books, this one is incredible. Should be mandatory reading for all activists, poets, and people who know something in our society is amiss.
