It’s nearly a year since my husband passed away. I’ve read numerous books to help me deal with this but this one is by far the best. It is a compilation from many other widows. No judgment. No expectations. Just understanding and compassion along with some good advice on things to guard yourself against. Would definitely recommend to all widows whether it’s been a month or a year or five years. I have friends who are still struggling with the reality of their situation after 3+ years and I’ve no doubt this book will help in some way. It’s divided in such a way that you can quickly go to whatever section you need at the moment but I do recommend reading it all at some point.

Quin Sherrer’s Hope for a Widow’s Heart is a warm, compassionate, gentle book that delivers its message of hope and comfort at many levels.

It can be read as a daily devotional, as a book that can be dipped in and out of or as a guide or study in a bereavement support group.

It is written in short, easy chapters covering topics that correspond to the many varied emotions, feelings, anxieties and concerns that are possibly present in the grieving process.

It is a message that Quin writes from the heart as she shares her own, and others, walk through grief. It is a comfort to know that we are not alone in our experiences. I found the stories and experiences of others helpful and comforting. It is often that by normalizing our own experiences through shared understanding that we recognize and can work through particular issues before they become more complicated and we get stuck and have to seek outside help.

This is a book that touched my heart and one that I will recommend to loved ones, friends and clients.

Quin writes in short chapters which are clear and able to hold your attention during this time of great grief. I appreciated her interjecting stories of others both difficult or compassionate to encourage one to move through the grief and position oneself from a heavenly stance.
